Privacy

The Hantavirus Monitor is a static, client-side dashboard. There is no signup, no personal account, no upload of user content, and no server-side processing of anything you do on the page.

What is collected

Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-DYME377V2S, shared site-wide across bookhockeys.com) records anonymised page views, basic device and locale information, and a small set of interaction events (tab switches, severity-filter clicks, ticker speed changes). No personal identifiers are collected.

What is not collected

• No name, email address, IP address, or other identifying information is stored or transmitted by this site.
• No image, document, or file uploads — the dashboard does not accept any.
• No accounts, logins, or authentication of any kind.
• No advertising or remarketing cookies. ad_storage, ad_user_data, and ad_personalization are denied by default in Google Consent Mode v2 and are never granted.

EU / EEA / UK / CH visitors

If your browser timezone is in Europe/* (or one of the EEA-adjacent outliers like Iceland, Cyprus, the Azores, Madeira, or the Canary Islands), analytics_storage is also denied by default and a consent banner is shown. Analytics only run if you grant consent. Your choice is stored locally in your browser under the key greenline-consent and persists across the rest of bookhockeys.com.

Visitors elsewhere

Outside Europe, anonymous Google Analytics events are enabled by default with no banner. You can revisit the choice from a small “Cookies” link in the footer of the dashboard.

Embedded content

The Social tab renders official X / Twitter embeds via platform.twitter.com/widgets.js. The script is loaded lazily — it is fetched only when the Social tab is opened and at least one curated tweet has a real ID. Once loaded, X may set its own cookies for the embedded tweets it serves; consult the X cookie policy for details.

The map uses tile imagery from CARTO and OpenStreetMap. Each map tile is a standard image request; no personally-identifying information is sent with these requests beyond the IP-level information any HTTP request carries.

What is shown on the dashboard

The dashboard displays a curated dataset of public hantavirus surveillance information (confirmed cases, clusters, deaths, environmental advisories) drawn from public health authorities and news reporting. It does not display, or expose, any patient names, locations finer than county- or province-level, or other private medical information. Always verify with the relevant state or national health authority before making any decision based on what you see here.
