Privacy
Fortress Watch is a static page. There is no sign-up, no account, no comment box and no upload. Nothing you do on the page is sent to a server we run.
What is collected
Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-DYME377V2S, shared across bookhockeys.com) records anonymous page views, basic device and locale information, and a few events: when you use a claim's Share buttons (which claim, and whether you copied or opened X or Reddit), when you press "Find on Amazon" in the starter kit (which item), and when you copy your kit list (how many items). No personal identifiers are collected.
What is not collected
- No name, email address or other identifying information is stored or sent by this page.
- No uploads of any kind.
- No accounts or logins.
- No advertising or remarketing cookies.
ad_storage,ad_user_dataandad_personalizationare denied by default in Google Consent Mode v2 and are never granted.
EU, EEA, UK and Swiss visitors
If your browser's time zone is in Europe/* (or an EEA-adjacent outlier such as Iceland, Cyprus, the Azores, Madeira or the Canary Islands), analytics_storage is also denied by default and a banner asks you first. Analytics only run if you accept. Your choice is stored in your browser under the key greenline-consent and applies across bookhockeys.com.
Visitors elsewhere
Outside Europe, anonymous analytics are on by default with no banner. You can change your choice with "Change cookie choice" in the page footer.
Turning analytics off on one device
Open the page with ?ga=off at the end of the address (for example bookhockeys.com/fortress/?ga=off). The browser remembers it under bookhockeys_ga_optout and Google Analytics is not loaded at all on that device. ?ga=on removes it.
Other things your browser stores or loads
- If you switch to dark mode, the choice is kept in your browser under
fortress-theme. - Items you tick with "Add to my list" in the blackout starter kit are kept in your browser under
fortress-kit, so the list is there next time. They never leave your device; "Clear my list" removes them. Nothing else about you is stored. - The fonts load from Google Fonts. Like any web request, that sends your IP address to Google.
- The map page loads the Leaflet map library from unpkg.com and map tiles from Esri (services.arcgisonline.com). Those requests carry your IP address and which part of the map you are looking at, nothing else from this page.
- Links to sources and the X and Reddit share links take you to those sites, which have their own privacy policies.
- The "Find on Amazon" buttons in the starter kit open an Amazon search in a new tab. When the kit carries an affiliate tag, the link includes it and the kit says so under the list. Amazon's own privacy policy applies once you are there.
What the page shows
The board lists public claims, reported by named outlets or posted publicly, with a label and an outlet rating. It does not publish private people's posts as images.
